Kelly's Favorite Bagels in Seattle (From a New Yorker)

As a New Yorker, I'll admit it...I'm a little picky about bagels.
Finding one that's chewy on the inside, perfectly crisp on the outside, and worth making a special trip for isn't always easy. Fortunately, Seattle has a couple of spots that have earned a permanent place on my list.

When I'm craving a classic bagel, Old Salt is one of my go-to stops. Their bagels are made fresh daily, and every time I visit, I'm reminded why it's worth the drive. Whether you keep it simple with cream cheese or load it up with your favorite breakfast sandwich, it's hard to go wrong.

Another favorite is Hey Bagel at University Village. The bagels come out fresh throughout the day, and there's always a great selection to choose from. It's the perfect excuse to spend a morning wandering University Village with a coffee in hand before heading home.
One More Favorite: Verdant Crumb
While we're talking about great bread, I have to share one more local favorite.
Verdant Crumb makes what I think is some of the best sourdough in West Seattle. They operate through preorder pop-ups, and I always try to snag a loaf when orders open. The bread is flavorful, beautifully baked, and well worth planning ahead for.
If you're able to catch one of their preorder windows, I highly recommend giving it a try.

Do You Have a Favorite?
I'm always looking for my next great bagel, bakery, or neighborhood food find. If you have a favorite spot I should check out, I'd love to hear about it.
One of my favorite parts of living and working in the Seattle area is discovering the local businesses that make each neighborhood unique, and I'm always happy to share those finds with my clients and neighbors.
